Razor Blade Cleaner

Development of a Patented concept into production ready data.
Overview
Creating the Razor Blade Cleaner

An innovative integrated razor blade cleaner and Faucet. Developed to reduce water consumption by 99% over a standard tap and prolong the life of razor blades by up to 4 times.

Lozio7 approached Mouse to work with them to develop their Razor blade cleaner concept from Technology Readiness Level 3 to TRL 7. Or in plain language, from proof of concept into a functional saleable product. Lozio7 had already gained a patent for the technology and had built a working prototype. Working with mouse enabled them to take the project to the next step, developing it into a real-world product.

The Product

Working in conjunction with Lozio7, we developed a working concept into a stylish high end home furnishing. The razor blade cleaner was constructed using a modular design where the cleaner could either be used as a stand-alone item or combined with a faucet.

The Process

Through a rigorous examination of the patent, we gained a comprehensive understanding of its finer workings, enabling us to construct a detailed 3D spatial model. By aligning this with standard components and ensuring compliance with building regulations, we laid a foundation for the development of user-centric concepts.

The largest challenge revolved around facilitating natural user interaction with a product that no one had interacted with before. To address this obstacle, we explored various industrial design concepts that render the product user-friendly, alongside the exploration of a range of self-explanatory iconography.

Finally crafted a fully functional prototype for on-site installation in the correct environment for user and market testing.

Testimonial
“Shavers worldwide throw away over 80,000 tonnes of disposable razors each year, estimated by manufactured volume. If our technology were to become mainstream, its benefits would translate to a potential annual saving of 48,000 tonnes of material landfill waste. We believe our device is the world’s first dual function faucet, which we know can have lots of beneficial applications across the hospitality industry and other commercial environments, and ultimately there is potential for it to be adopted by people for use within their homes.”
