Collaboration with ProMatchWTC to design and produce a durable, high-performance wheelchair flight case, addressing the challenges of frequent air travel for competitive wheelchair tennis athletes.
Engineered for the elite athlete, this lightweight, foldable flight case is designed specifically for tennis sports wheelchairs, simplifying air travel and storage at competitions. Measuring 104 x 74 x 87cm, it arrives fully assembled. When not in use, it collapses to only 18cm height. Weighing only 9.2kg, handles ensure easy manoeuvring. Internal compartments accommodate 27-inch wheels and axel pins. Athletes benefit from secure, hassle-free transport and space-saving storage, ensuring their wheelchairs are protected and ready for competition.
We analysed prototype weaknesses, redesigning for durability while maintaining key patentable features. A custom plastic base and rigid frame were implemented. Material choices, including YKK zippers and reinforced sidewalls, focused on strength. Internal wheel storage was improved, and user experience streamlined. Prototypes underwent global testing, leading to refinements. A 20-unit production run followed, with modular design for longevity. Collaboration with ProMatchWTC ensured the final product met athlete needs. The outcome: a robust, user-friendly wheelchair flight case.
