Elite race buoyancy aids, designed for Sir Ben Ainslie and the 2022 British Sail GP team.
Rapidly designed & produced 40 Sail GP British Team buoyancy aids, from CAD to approved race-ready products in 6 months.
In a tight window, we designed and produced certified buoyancy aids for the British Sail GP team. Facing Covid challenges, we worked with Spinlock to bring the entire process onshore. The core objective was uncompromising protection, achieved through rigorous design and development. We integrated custom electronics, an emergency air supply, and aerodynamic features into the buoyancy aids. Interchangeable graphics allowed for team customisation. From concept to certified production, we delivered high-performance buoyancy aids optimised for the demanding conditions of Sail GP racing.
Crafting a high-performance buoyancy aid demanded a delicate balance of aesthetics and function. We collaborated closely with the Spinlock and the British Sail GP team, prioritising their critical needs. User research drove our concept design, merging performance and style. Safety standards guided our prototyping, with rigorous testing informing each iteration. By the third prototype, we achieved a production-ready design, securing certification. We then completed UK production of 20 custom buoyancy aids, delivering them to the team for their season opener.
