Our vision was to create a system built around a single, standardised airpole. This wasn’t just about convenience; it was about practicality. Imagine a puncture – with the O.M.E.G.A, replacement is quick and easy, and you can even borrow a pole from another O.M.E.G.A owner. This interchangeability across the four, six, and eight-person models was a game-changer.
From a business standpoint, this single-pole design offered significant advantages. It slashed ordering costs, allowing us to achieve smaller minimum order quantities. As a new product, this was crucial for testing the market. And from the user’s perspective, it simplified setup; no more worrying about placing the wrong pole in the wrong sleeve.
But the O.M.E.G.A Air Tent Design was more than just practical; it was robust. We put our prototypes through their paces during a harsh UK winter, with heavy snowfall. They stood strong, proving their durability. This was a fantastic first air tent project for us.
The real design challenge was achieving a pitched roof for effective water shedding while sticking to our single-pole philosophy. We cracked it by creating an hourglass-shaped footprint. This clever design gave us a narrower entrance with higher headroom and a wider bedroom area with lower headroom, all thanks to the airpole’s flexibility. This hourglass shape wasn’t just functional; it was a distinctive feature, a new style of tent footprint that we were able to design register and secure the intellectual property of as well.
We’re incredibly proud of the O.M.E.G.A Air Tent Design. It represented a genuine innovation in family camping. The single airpole concept simplified setup, enhanced durability, and offered a unique spatial experience.
