Following the success of their initial handcrafted Hong Kong location, Sleeep.io sought to scale production. Their bespoke sleep pods, while high-quality, were not suited for mass manufacturing. To expand, Sleeep.io needed a partner to translate their vision into a scalable, factory-ready solution. They approached Mouse to prepare their design into a scalable product.
Our collaboration began with a comprehensive analysis of Sleeep’s existing pod design. The objective was clear: transition from a one-off, handcrafted solution to a model suitable for scale production, without compromising the original’s core qualities, sharp design styling and critically the user experience. This involved identifying alternative construction methods for time-consuming components and streamlining the manufacturing process. Our expertise in industrial design and product development was critical to this phase.
Our team meticulously reverse-engineered the existing pods, understanding every detail and material. This led to a strategic redesign, heavily influenced by Design for Manufacturing (DFM) techniques. This crucial phase focused on simplifying components, optimizing material use, and ensuring efficient large-scale production and assembly. The outcome was a complete set of production engineering drawings, providing precise blueprints for high-volume manufacturing.
